Amidst the discoveries of the phenomenon that helped in unravelling the mysteries of the universe by pioneers like Albert Einstein, Madame Marie Curie, Isaac Newton, Charles Darwin, and others, students of Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology celebrated the Raman Marvel- The Great Indian Ethos on the occasion of their annual Techno-Management Fest the SAMAVESH 2020 which marked as a tribute to one of the genius minds of all time whose work on scattering of light not only redefined the whole of the structure of Physics but also paved a new path for the budding scientists in India.
Starting from 12th of march, 2020 the enthusiastic undergraduates experienced a captivating two-days annual techno-management fest conducted under the guidance of the coordinator Tushar Kant Behera and assistance coordinators Vivek Kumar, Shivangee Soni and Sudhanshu Ranjan Nayak.
Following the lamp lightening ceremony in the Visweswaraya Auditorium, the fest was inaugurated by Prof. Atal Chaudhuri (The Vice-Chancellor) followed by District Magistrate and Collector Shubham Saxena (IAS). The other eminent dignitaries sharing the dais were Dr Harish Kumar Sahoo (Vice President, Students’ Technical society), Prof. Sudhanshu Sekhar Das (Dean of Students’ Welfare), Smt. Upama Kalo, Sri. Nilam Prakash Kujur and Faculty Advisor Mr Suresh Kumar Saichandan.
The third edition of the flagship event, Maker Fest, a platform for the grass-root innovators was organised by the students of Idea and Innovation Cell that witnessed around thirty-seven innovators from across the state and three startups who exhibited some ground-breaking innovations and contemporary ideas.
Alongside this mega event, Ignite awards were being held at the Golden Jubilee Hall which was inaugurated by the Director of National Innovation Foundation, Mr Chetan Patel who spoke on strengthening the grassroot innovation with an intent to inculcate an inventive and creative mindset among students.
The enthusiastic students participated in many interesting and extraordinary events which were organised by various clubs of technical society. Tech Savvy and VSSUT Records were some highlighted events of Idea and Innovation Cell which were keeping the participants involved and engaged.
It could be said the same for the Entrepreneurship cell members as well who were meticulously and diligently conducting Trading Pro and B-Quiz as their mega-events.
The SAE members held a creative session where participants were asked to sketch some stunning designs of cars in Sketch a car and later an Auto Quiz was organised by the same to test the participants’ knowledge on Automobiles and motorsports. And speaking of the quiz, the members of Quizzine clubs were one step ahead with their intense quiz events, the Business quiz and the Auto quiz.
The veterans of our university, Robotics club enthralled everyone with it’s Maze Mice and Devil’s Valley. The civil department organised Bridge design event where the participants showcased their creative skills to construct bridges. Alongside this, the Mechanical Department was also occupied in conducting Truss-o-Make and Save the Egg.
Playing with the elements of chemistry, the chemical department organised chemo hacks where participants had to use their working knowledge in chemistry to solve the problem statements provided. The electrical department also conducted a unique event, Express yourself in an Electrical way where participants were needed to express themselves in a creative way which must involve the usage of common electrical terminology that could define their traits.
A full-day workshop was held by KEMPI which was inaugurated by Dr Debadutta Mishra (Director, TBI) with an intent to give an exposure to the students about various wielding technology and methods. Small hands-on sessions were also held to give an in-depth understanding of the applied techniques.
Somewhere in a virtual realm, some spectacular events gathered a huge attraction as gaming events such as PUBG, Pro Evolution Soccer, CounterStrike GO, FIFA, Clash of Royale and Ludo King were keeping everyone involved and bewildered.
Meanwhile, Enigma, the coding club, also conducted Code-It 2020, a competitive coding competition that saw participation from institutes around the state. A team from GIET, Gunupur emerged as the winner whereas two teams from VSSUT became the runners up and second runners up respectively.
Before the day events could be wrapped up, Visweswaraya Auditorium was filled with everyone roaring with laughter as Alokesh Sinha’s stand up performance made everything worthwhile.
With the tireless efforts of the Pixel members and volunteers the beautifully decorated campus witnessed the opening ceremony in the evening, which was inaugurated by the Chairman and Managing Director (MCL), Mr Anil Kumar Jha followed by a soulful and dumbstruck performance by Souls and Vibranz members.
As a cherry on a cake, DJ Dean set the dance floor on fire with his whole array of musical numbers leaving the tired audience wanting for some more.
