On 10th Nov, 2018 Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology witnessed an induction of the club “American Society of Mechanical Engineers(ASME)” into its technical society. The orientation program of the official new club was summoned at Sir Visveswaraya Auditorium, VSSUT, Burla  2:30pm onwards.

The Vice-Chancellor Dr.Atal Chaudhary, The  Dean Students’ Welfare Prof. Sudhanshu Shekhar Dash, Training and Placement Head Dr. Prashant Nanda, The Vice-Prsesident of technical society Dr.Harish Kumar Sahu were present on the occasion. VSSUT ASME faculty advisor, Dr. Kiran Kumar Ekka and faculty Co-ordinator Mr.Layatitdev Das were also present at the program.

The complete hosting of the event was carried out by Zadziya Pattnaik and Ankita Meher, Secretary, ASME, VSSUT.The dignitaries addressed the audience with their motivational words and encouraged the young students to actively participate in the various technical activities in the college. “A truly global professional association ASME VSSUT Student Chapter here will actively  work towards conducting effective technical courses, trainings and seminars to update students on latest technological advancements”said K R Satyajit, Chairperson of the Club. The official website and the logo of the club was launched on the day. The sponsors of the event “Raina Aqua” and “NEXA” were introduced to the audience by Anjali Sahu , PR Head ,ASME, VSSUT.

To increase the curiosity of the students a quiz session on ASME was conducted by Raj Das.

The program then continued to the slide presentation that acknowledged the students  about the history and existence of ASME, Human Powered Vehicle Challenge(HPVC), Innovative Additive Manufacturing 3D challenge(IAM3D).The student chapter at VSSUT is now entitled to participate in e-fests as well as  organize international conferences. ASME is a global engineering society having 2 institutes and 32 technical divisions within its organizational structure. VSSUT has been ranked as fourth to open this student chapter in Odisha having its head quarters at New York, USA.

In order to brief the audience for a better sense of ASME the club members conducted a video conference with Emamul Haque, member of ASME Board Of Governors (BOG) , Prof. Mareila Machado Fantacchiotti, Program manager of operation at Engineering for Change and Eana Aranda, President of Engineering for Change streaming live from New York office. After the abroad conference the winners of Quizsters were declared.

The program was concluded by a warm speech of “Vote Of Thanks” by Shakti Prasad Mohanty, Treasurer, ASME, VSSUT.

KUDOS to the club members for pertaining the heavy load, working on the errors and efficiently providing an effective power output by making the event a successful one.
