YET ANOTHER FEAT FOR THE VSSUT ROBOTICS SOCIETY: INFOSYS ROBOTICS CAMP-2018

A bunch of technocrats from Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology, Burla, driven by the zest for learning technological advancements and adapting to the needs of the modern world, proved the above quote right with utmost grace and grandeur.

The Robotics Society of VSSUT Burla, pillaring the innovative minds and hardworking shoulders, is known to fabricate realistic projects out of acquired theoretical data. Team ViSSion is pleased as punch to announce yet another artistic triumph for the Team VSSUT Robotics at the Infosys Robotics Camp held on 21st August, 2018 at Infocity, Bhubaneshwar. The constant efforts and dedication of the club and the sheer passion for their work helped them knock out the intense competition and bag the 2nd position.

The event showed a wide participation of 28 different teams from all over Odisha. With an allotted time of five minutes, of which two minutes were for presentation and the rest three for live demonstration of the project, each squad came up with their intricacies. The eminent members of the Team VSSUT Robotics- Suman Shekhar Dash, Srimant Nahak, Rohan Sharma, Swapnil Bhoi, Sneha Mukherjee, Koushani Dash, Supriya Muduli, Vartika Agrawalla under the constant guidance of Professor Prasant Kumar Nanda, made sure that the flag of the university soared high yet again. The final year students extended their helping hand and availed their knowledge and experience to the fullest in order to assist the team reach the zenith of innovation which fostered in them the hope and valour to embrace uncertainty and inspired them to head lionheartedly towards their intended goal.

The following projects were demonstrated by the team during the course of this grand event:

  • HEXACOPTER (UAV), which is designed exclusively for disaster management. UAV stands for Unmanned Aerial Vehicle commonly known as a ‘DRONE’. It is basically an aircraft without a human pilot on board. The drone has a lifting capacity of 2kgs with a flight-time of 5-7 minutes.
  • Automatic attendance system using Image Processing.

Although the information about this competition reached them late, the efforts of teamwork and patience were nothing over the time they had in their hands. Working and preparing themselves the whole night with the guidance and help of the other club members proved that nothing is impossible.

The team came up with a two minute PowerPoint presentation showing the specifications and technicalities involved and a video clip of the real time working of the model. The mind-boggling video of the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle grabbed the attention of the reverent judges, thereby assuring them a podium finish.

The ever-rising phenomenal club, The Robotics Society, keeps on dreaming to make impeccable dreams come true. It has always risen up to make its ambition a full-flung mission, making it invincible. This growing club has made the obvious choices in driving the combined efforts of the budding robo-enthusiasts backed by an expert and power packed intelligentsia. This club, being an amalgamation of two disciplines – technical and management, will, in the coming years, add feathers to its already studded cap.
