Some lines about your time at ViSSion
Right from starting with an idea, watching ViSSion reach such great heights makes me proud to be associated. I had some amazing moments there, and amazing learning experiences. I owe it to PIMO for being such a vissionary and involving me in such a beautiful journey. I miss the brainstorming. Our juniors have come a long way; and i want to thank and congratulate them for such a great job. We have passed the baton of our baby to the right hands and such beautifully talented minds. Thanks guys. My the ViSSionary fire go on forever!

How ViSSion has helped in your career
I can’t thank ViSSion enough for what it has done for me. ViSSion made me someone who is not afraid of taking initiatives. ViSSion gave way to my passion which was earlier my hobby. I owe a lot of my success to my time and learning at ViSSion

Your own vision(way-forward) about ViSSion in years to come
You guys are doing great. I had honestly not foreseen so much success in
such a short span of time. My only suggestion would be to recruit well, and everything else will fall into place. Never be scared to experiment. One thing i feel strongly about and feel that my juniors could initiate and pursue is TED Talks and Toastmasters. I know it is a farsighted dream. But we can always start right? This will not only give us branding but also be great for the student community. Please don’t hesitate to drop me a mail in case you need any help. I am still a team member, not just an alumnus. Good luck guys!

Some lines about your time at ViSSion
For me ViSSion was more than a newsletter or a venture from the Literary Society. When we started out VSSUT had no means of circulating news and grievances of Students . Me and my friends were driven to give that to the college and something that our juniors could build on. But in the end it was more of a family for me at VSSUT. Those evening meetings and discussions we had while starting out still manage to bring a smile on my face on the back of a tough day at work.

How ViSSion has helped in your career
The number of difficulties and resistance that we faced while starting ViSSion and the vigour with which the team just kept on going without giving up has always motivated me to not give up on my dreams and not accept defeat whatever be the odds.

Your own vision(way-forward) about ViSSion in years to come
I really am proud of the way ViSSion has bounced back. I really hope the present Literary Society makes our dream of a regular e-newsletter possible.

Prateek Samantaray

Samantaray was a member of
IUKWIM

Some lines about your time at ViSSion
Good times. The team believed it was doing something that hadn’t been done before in the college, and that certainly boosted our efforts towards writing superior material. IUKWIM, especially, is close to my heart, given that we wanted to write stuff that was controversial, and in doing so, challenge the status quo. Pity that it was discontinued.

How ViSSion has helped in your career
It has certainly been a significant talking point during my MBA Interviews, club inductions, and SIP interviews to state that I was one of the founding members of the e-newsletter of a 60 year old technical institution. Above all, it garners interest in an interviewer’s mind, which in itself is difficult to do in

Your own vision(way-forward) about ViSSion in years to come
Vission’s purpose was to serve as a singular destination for institute related news, which the students can relate to, and which aptly enunciates student grievances. While the present team has been working hard towards regularising content, you need to keep in mind the target audience, 18-24 year olds who strive for news that has a mix of both information and entertainment. That in mind, the content can be made more engaging. I’d certainly recommend having a dedicated proofreading team, because there have been glaring errors in recent articles. Reduce one on one interviews, especially with the students. You can increase the frequency of inteviews that you had had with the admin staff, such as the one you had with Rama Da. Try to recontinue the IUKWIM section, i.e. write articles which are of a satirical nature, so that they capture the imagination of the masses while highlighting an issue. These articles may be on the lines of Faking News, so that students find an alternative to Meme pages to talk about. That said, here’s wishing the team the best in their endeavours

Some lines about your time at ViSSion
I still remember the time when ViSSion came into existence! I definitely take pride for having been a part of this reputed e-newsletter team of the University and I really did get a lot to learn from my co-ViSSionaries!

How ViSSion has helped in your career
ViSSion inculcated this habit in me, of expressing ideas without any hesitation, because sometimes, even some bad ideas eventually lead to great outcomes! ViSSion taught me the importance of proof-reading while documenting anything. And the most important lesson, that has helped me in my corporate life : “with great powers come great responsibilities.” 🙂

Your own vision(way-forward) about ViSSion in years to come
I hope, someday, our ViSSion website would become so popular that, while filling choices for admission, people would prefer to browse our website to know about *VSSUT, Burla* over the official website of our University!

Some lines about your time at ViSSion
My time at ViSSion was especially memorable because of Faking News VSSUT obviously. It was the first time I felt people would actually want to read what I want to write. ViSSion was the time I penned down stuff I genuinely wanted to talk about. Trying to manage ViSSion was a tremendous learning experience. I learnt a lot about people and made some really good friends. I wish I had more time with ViSSion.

How ViSSion has helped in your career ?
Vission was never about my career but yes the people skills I learnt there help everyday in some way of the other in my work life.

Your own vision(way-forward) about ViSSion in years to come
I have no idea about the way forward for ViSSion. I just feel ViSSion should always aspire to be a place where people are personally invested in. And that is not just the responsibility of the individuals but of the show runners as well.

Some lines about your time at ViSSion
Something that I am really proud of, because being a part of the founding team of the first e-newsletter of the first engineering college of Odisha, speaks volumes. I did enjoy a lot, and learnt a lot from the ‘visionary’ Pratik Mohanty who was the man behind all this. It was glorious, something that will always be etched in my heart.

How ViSSion has helped in your career
ViSSion was the first club that i ever worked for. I understood the meaning of team dynamics. ViSSion is a testament to the fact that ‘Great things come out of comfort zone’. This was really necessary for me given the kind of person I am. Plus, it gave me the much needed push in confidence to soar new heights.

Your own vision(way-forward) about ViSSion in years to come
A blog that should carve out a niche for itself. People of different colleges should look up to ViSSion for inspiration and ideas when they would be contemplating creating their own blog. That would define success. That means more content in the website. More and new content. We can take some cues from INSEAD.

Vission was a vision we saw to make lives more interesting at VSSUT. Making people more connected and having a space of our own to encourage fellow students and use this to its full potential to help make life better at holy VSSUT.

How ViSSion has helped in your career
Vission was a Brainchild of many months of thoughts put in. It took around a month to develop a full fledged website. The things I learnt the most working this out was, how to use Tech generically to make the most out of it.

Your own vision(way-forward) about ViSSion in years to come
I hope, the current students use this platform to its full potential. I left some easter eggs for you guys in the whole website for you to harness it. Play around it. You’ll find a lot with what you can possibly do with such a platform.

Vission, with the unique spelling error that it supposedly has in the eyes of others, has just not been a mere club but a feeling. We have watched it grow, right from the labor pains in the form of getting a permission to start it to growing into a beautiful form. With ups and downs, that everything is entitled to in this world, ViSSion survived. At least, students in Vssut has a student media body to boast about and to pour out their frustrations.

How ViSSion has helped in your career

Your own vision(way-forward) about ViSSion in years to come
Vision is the art of seeing what is invisible or rather made invisible to others. Cheer out loud, and make yourself heard. Keep the spirit of ‘Bhisutians’ alive.

ViSSion gave me a platform which made me realise I could be a lot more I think I am. I could anyone. Since, Writers are versatile, they live many lives in a lifespan. I am glad I was given a chance to sharpen my skills using ViSSion as my whetstone. All the people I met during the inception of ViSSion are very close to my heart.

How ViSSion has helped in your career

The creativity, contribution and efforts that went into the making of this miracle have taught me perseverance. The saying that “Rome wasn’t built in a day” applies to Vission as well. I have been a part of it since it’s inception and vission will always be a part of me irrespective of my role or the lack of one!

How ViSSion has helped in your career
It has taught me that deadlines are supposed to be adhered to at all costs! Even if one part of the machinery that is cloclwork precision goes out of hand , then the entire ensemble spells incorrect time!

Your own vision(way-forward) about ViSSion in years to come
I would always view it in a very emotional perspective given that I have been a part of it since it’s formation and will leave college whilst still remaining a part of it. The prerequisites of an informative and creative newsletter have been achieved by vission upto an extent and the only way forward would be getting better at what we do with time. Leave no stone unturned in trying to be the voice of the students , by the students and for the students!
