On 21st February 2020, Yoga Club organised Yogutsav at Biju Pattnaik E-learning Centre, VSSUT, Burla. It was an opportunity for the students of the University and outside to embrace and learn from different yoga masters across different traditions. The event started at 9:00, and students had enthusiastically gathered in a mass at the venue in time. Team Yogutsav had invited a bunch of experienced and eminent speakers. The guests were escorted with NCC cadets of VSSUT and Ghosh team of Burla high school guided by Randiba Sir.
The guests for the event were Dr. Siba Sundar Swain, President of Human Rights Council, our Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Atal Choudhury, Dean Student Welfare, S.K. Swain and B. B. Pati Sir. Mr. Amiya Das, Motivational Speaker, ISCKON was our Chief Speaker.
The event started with an introductory speech by our host Atul Saswat and Ananya Shrusti Panda, which was followed by an Odissi dance performance by Pratyasha Panigrahi, Vibranz (Official Dance Club). Soon after, we had a speech by our Vice-Chancellor, & Dean, Students’ Welfare where they discussed about Yoga as an effective tool to maintain general well being.
Prior to this there was a speech delivered by our chief speaker Mr. Amiya Das who shared about Yoga as a therapeutic significance to treat stress induced, psychosomatic and lifestyle related disorder and diseases. A Yoga demonstration was guided by Mr. Suresh Behera, the college’s official yoga coach. He showed various asanas that could help in improving bowel movements and several yoga exercises. He taught the crowd about yoga’s influence on immunity and ameliorated joint disorders.
To catch the crowd’s attention there was a beautiful Sambalpuri dance performance by students. Siba Sundar Swain, Guest of Honour, went to the Dias to share his views on staying positive and exercising.He tried to make the pupils aware of yoga forms. Fun events were conducted by the coordinator and club members, and students from different schools of sambalpur had come to participate in these activities. Yoga demonstration was carried out perfectly by Burla high school students. There was a heartwarming theatrics performed by the Drama Club (Emotica) to end the event on a high.
Lastly, all the participants of different events were felicitated by the Yoga Club Coordinator, Ankita Meher. The event ended on an energetic note and its main aim was to help young people revel in this amazing timeless gift, which our sages had left behind for us, still applicable and effective in todays date.
